Dear 18-year-old Anirban,
Your 10th exam went well, you did more than you expected. I love how calm and confident you were, and even after five years, I am still that cool.
But you know what? You were always wrong about yourself.
You thought you were not good enough. You were insecure about your skin colour and height, which makes sense because people around you made you feel that way.
But trust me, at 23, I have experienced so much. I have gone on my first international trip. Life is not perfect, and no, I did not become rich. But I am doing better, not compared to others, but compared to the life you are living right now.
You have no idea about your potential. Right now, you are wasting time, and yes, you will continue to waste some of it, playing games, getting distracted. COVID was frightening, and the world was starting to get better, but recently, America started the war again. We are safe in India, but it is a reminder that life is unpredictable.
I am writing this to tell you that I am proud of you. You have already done more than you think you have.
You broke the chain. You got out of that mental prison. You did amazing, and that is why I am doing amazing today.
Do you remember how you used to tear up your writing? Well, your work got published in a magazine. You even earn from your writing now, and I have built a newsletter business. You started a travel company at 18, something you never imagined doing, and it is already happening.
You have faced loneliness, doubt, and fear, and you still have no friends, yet you kept moving forward anyway. You have learnt that self-discipline, persistence, and curiosity matter more than approval from anyone else.
Keep believing in yourself. I know you will waste time, and I wish I could change that. But no matter what, I will keep working hard, proving to myself and to you that I am capable. I am proud of you today, and I will make you even prouder tomorrow.
Thanks for reading 🙂
I wanted to do something different this time, so I’ve written a letter to my 18-year-old self.
You can write it too and send it to me, I would love to read about it.
See ya!

Book I’m reading this week:
Things no one taught us about love by Vex King. I got this book as a gift. It’s not about teaching you how to love your partner, it’s about how love works and everything we don’t know about love.
1 thing I learnt this week:
More than 50% of the world's oxygen is produced by the ocean, not trees.
Tool stack I use:
Fathom: AI notetaker + recorder.
Notion: My second brain.
Beehiiv: My newsletter tool.
Toggl: My time tracking tool.
